Eternity
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11
Solomon knew that what God does endures forever (Eccl. 3:14). In his wisdom, Solomon said that the sole purpose of creation was that all men would revere God. We were placed on this earth to bring Him glory and honor. Eternity has been deeply rooted in every human heart. Man is continually looking for the fountain of youth that he might extend his life. While the world strives for eternity, it does not comprehend God's eternal plan for man. God's desire is not only that all mankind would be saved, but that they would live the life He desired for man from the very beginning. When Adam and Eve were placed in the garden, they had a life of peace and harmony, free from sin and all of its cares and heartaches. Adam sinned, and mankind has been seeking what he lost ever since, though they may not even realize it. How thankful we are that Jesus died to redeem Adam and the entire world, and that one day soon he will restore what was lost in Adam! In His kingdom and throughout eternity, man will discover what has been specially designed for him. He will understand why God set eternity in his heart and he will praise the God of all Creation throughout eternity!
Father, thank you for planting in our hearts the desire for eternity! And thank you for making eternity a reality in our lives. How thankful we are for Jesus and his sacrifice, which brings us salvation and the opportunity to live eternally with you! How our hearts sing with joy for all you are! And while we cannot fathom all that you have done from the beginning of time and will do until the day we enter glory, we know you have worked miracles over and over in our lives and how we praise you for that! May the song in our heart continue on throughout eternity. Amen
