Trust the Word of the Lord
"About this time next year, " Elisha said, "you will hold a son in your arms."
"No, my lord," she objected, "Don’t mislead your servant, O man of God!" 2 Kings 4:16
Have you ever received a promise from the Lord and like the Shunamite woman refused to believe that the promise was really meant for you? Sometimes the Lord wishes to grant us that which we desire, but we are so afraid of being disappointed we do not take hold of the promise and believe. The Bible tells us there are many things that can be ours. We can have a peace that passeth understanding. We can have Christ’s strength in exchange for our own. We can have a life that withstands the storms. We can have victory. Don’t respond to scripture with doubt. We need to trust the Word of the Lord, whether it comes through His Word or through one of His servants. These promises are yours, put your name in front of them when you read them. They belong to you because you are a son or daughter of the King. Instead of responding with doubt, take hold of those promises and believe; and, like the Shunamite woman, you will see the miracles take place over and over again in your life.
Father, help us to believe all that You have promised to us in your word. Help us to take hold of your promises rather than allow the doubt to take hold of us. Make Your promises real, Lord. Plant them in our hearts, for we long for them to take root there. We cannot do this alone, we need You. We need You to plant, to water and to prune us, that Your promises might transform us for Your glory. Amen
