All Your Heart
"The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live." Deuteronomy 30:6
While this promise was given to the nation of Israel long ago, Paul in Romans 2:29 makes it applicable to us today. Circumcision was an outward sign of a covenant with God to the Israelites. The LORD desires more than a mere sign; he desires our hearts, what is inside of us. Circumcision of the heart is necessary for any sinful human being to walk with God. It is not until we rid ourselves of human effort, of self-will, or the need to control our destiny that we are truly circumcised of heart. This is not a job that we can do on our own; it is something God has promised HE will do if we allow Him to. Our job is to submit to the circumcision, to allow that part of us to be cut away and discarded forever. It may be a painful operation, but the end results will be a relationship with God that we never could have imagined. When we let God do this work in our lives, then we will be able to love Him with all our hearts and with all our soul. It is then that we find life and life more abundantly. Eternal life is ours to be sure, but even life on this side of the veil becomes richer. For when we live in Him, we truly live
Father, take our hearts and cut away that which would keep us from you. Circumcise our hearts that we might give ourselves wholly to you. We desire to love you with such intensity that nothing could part us from you. We want to truly live! May the time we have left on this earth will be rich and blessed because we have you in our lives. And LORD, we long for heaven, where eternal life will be ours where we shall see you face to face, our Father whom we love so much. Amen
