Not Worthy
"I am not worthy of the least of all thy mercies, and of all the truth, which Thou hast shown unto thy servant." Genesis 32:10
Why should the God of the Universe have anything to do with us? Why would He concern himself with us? These are questions that baffle the mind. We are not worthy of the least of the mercies that God has shown to us and yet He does over and over extend to us His mercy and truth. We, like Jacob, have been the recipients of grace. It is hard to understand why God cares for us, but I am so glad that He does. We are thankful that while Jacob was His servant, we are His children. We have an awesome standing that we did nothing to earn and really do not deserve, but by God’s grace is ours! There is nothing we can do to earn it. We will never deserve it and yet it is ours for the taking. We are His children not because of a birthright, for we have none. We are His children because His love and His mercy reached down to this earth and grabbed us. We were children of sin; we had no standing, we had nothing to offer, and we were simply totally unworthy. Yet God chose us that we might be His. How awesome is that? God’s grace: it boggles the mind, but I am so glad to be a recipient of it.
Father, thank You for Your mercies. I am unworthy of them all. Thank You for Your truth, which you have chosen to reveal to me, Your child. Thank You for Your grace and how it made a peasant into an heir of Yours. Oh, that I might bring Your name honor, as You work in my life! Amen
