They Trusted
"They cried to you and were saved; in you they trusted and were not disappointed." Psalm 22:5
What a wonderful and trustworthy Father we have! He is always there for us in joy and sorrow. He is there when we cry out to him from the midst of the storms of life. He hears our pleas and he takes action. It may not always be the action that we think best, but we can rest assured that he knows best for us. All the experiences of life are given to us for a purpose. They cause us to grow more like our blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There is another important lesson to be learned from the testings and trials of life, and that is dependence. Yes, our Father wants us to learn total dependence on him. He wants us to let go of our desire to control our world and allow him to take over. That is not an easy task! Every fiber of our flesh wants control. It is only when we learn to be totally dependent upon God: when we are willing to give up all our dreams, all our hopes and ambitions in exchange for his dreams, his hopes and his ambitions for us, that we will find true joy. The Father has wonderful things in store for those who are dependent upon him! He has great plans for us, but it is up to us to allow him to work out those plans in our lives. Let's not stand in the way of our Father. Let's give him what he desires from us, total surrender; and when we do, we will not be disappointed.
Father, thank you for the experiences of life that show us that we cannot control our lives. Help us to let go and allow you to take over every aspect of our lives. Help us put our lives totally in your Holy Hands. Give us the patience to allow you to work out your plans in our lives and the trust to be totally dependent on you. Amen
