Pure Contour

1. The subject of my creation is a hand holding a rubber band and 3 angles of a shoe. The setting is that the hand is in a bunch of different shapes and designs. The setting for the shoe is on a table but I only drew the shoe. The work was made by first drawing my hand then I made the lines on the fingers that were closer to me darker and the ones farther away lighter. Then I filled in the white space by adding different designs and shapes. For the shoes I did the same thing but made 3 different angles. I used different pencils that had different shades so it would show how far away the hand and shoes are. I chose to create this because it shows different values of my hand and shoes and it also helps me become a better artist because they are real life drawings, not from a picture and you aren't allowed to shade anything. In my artwork I used lines by showing the different bone structures, creases in my hand, the outline of the shoes, and shoelaces.

2. I used pattern in my hand drawing in the background and I used contrast for my shoe and hand drawing to show the light from the dark. The things closer to us are darker than the things farther away so I made the lines darker when they were closer to me and lighter when they were farther away. My project evolved because I had to change the way I drew my fingers because of my bones and the way my fingers bend and crease. I also had to change the way I drew my shoes because the proportion was a little off so I had to change that.

3. The meaning behind my art is a hand holding a rubber band apart, it is showing some sort of hand symbol. The meaning behind my shoe is that it is showing the different important things about the shoe. My artwork relates to my life because it makes me proud that I could create something that looks like my hand. Form my shoe drawing I drew my favorite pair of shoes, it make me really happy. I think that my artwork could be stronger because I wasn't supposed to shade anything but I shaded my fingernail so next time I would change that. I might also change the background into something else that shows that the hand is closer and the background is farther away. I might change my shoe drawing by making the lines really obvious to if they were close or farther away. I would also make my angles of the shoe look more like the angle it is supposed to be.
