"Photoshop experiment"
Photoshop and photo booth
10"x8"
In this piece I was experimenting with media design. This process was new to me, so it took me awhile to adjust to. I expressed myself with a mask on and feeling a little annoyed and over it almost. In my artwork I decided to specifically focus on my mask by using selective color and pattern to show my emotions in this piece. I chose to create this because I wanted to try new art approaches and I really enjoyed this process. It was different form what I'm used to, but I really enjoyed this process and want to continue to use it for future projects, especially for my concentrations of birds.
To make this project, I started by taking a photo of myself in photo booth. Then I used the photoshop to trace all the lines outlining myself. After I traced all the lines with black, I added color to all of the outlined areas. To do this I matched each section to a color on photo booth, to get neutral colors of my face and mask. Some of the colors I used in multiple places, without matching new ones, like the flowers on my mask and highlights throughout my hair.
I used selective color in my artwork to show how I felt with my mask on. I wanted my mask to be the main focal point throughout my piece, so I used brighter colors in that area and more designs. I also used contrast, through the neutral colors against each other. For example the highlights in my hair show contrast, as well as my skin tone colors. I wanted to experiment with my material choices throughout this piece and really enjoyed this process. It was hard to trace all the lines because on a key pad you have little room to draw and its hard to make all the lines straight, so this took some adjusting to and experimenting with more tools. My next steps in this background would be to make the background more appealing and to add more highlights throughout my hair.
