Circle Project

The subject of my creation are flowers on a lily pad, but the lily pad does not look like a real lily pad. The setting is the lily green background that sort of looks like a lily pad. I made my project by first drawing everything in a 4h pencil on canvas paper, then I used acrylic paint to paint the flowers and background. I had to mix paint and layer it until it looked complete. Lastly I used paint markers in the background by stippling, and adding more dots on the outside and less on the inside. I chose to create this because the point of this project was to incorporate circles, so I thought this would be a good idea because the center of some flowers are circular. I also like flowers and I wanted to try to paint some, although I now know that i'm not the best at painting flowers. One element that is shown in my artwork is color by making each flower a different color and mixing paint to create different values of that color. One principal I used in my artwork was balance by specifically placing the flowers in those spots. I spread them out evenly and I made sure the same flower was not next to each other.

I used grouping in my artwork by separating the flower colors into different spaces and grouping them together. My project evolved throughout my project because I changed where some of the flowers were placed and the colors I envisioned. Also the background was just green and really plain, so I decided to add dots to add more value and also so it will tie in more with the whole point of the project.

The meaning behind my artwork is that I wanted to create flowers that involve circles while still making the flowers look somewhat realistic. This relates to my life because now that it's fall, this piece of artwork reminds me a little of summer which makes me sad. I think my artwork could be stronger by making a border but also making some of the flowers look more like flowers. Also I would add more dots to the background to make it look better with the the green.
