Linoleum Prints

The subject of my creation is a landscape on the water with boats and clouds. The work was made by first finding a picture then using acorn to make the picture black and white and turning the saturation down. I then scribbled on the back of the picture with a 6b pencil and traced it on the linoleum. After, I went over all the lines with sharpie. I used a scraping tool to carve out the linoleum. When I thought it was good I started to roll ink on my linoleum to get 4 perfect prints this took about 30 tries to get 4 perfect ones. I chose to create this because it had many cool lines and I thought it would be cool to carve out. One specific element I used in my artwork was color by using different ink colors to make my artwork brighter. One principal I used was pattern in the sky.

In my artwork I showcased low horizon line by making the horizon line low. My project evolved overtime because it took me many tries to get 4 perfect prints and were clean around the edges. If my prints were so close to being perfect and just needed to be fixed in a few places then I painted with the ink those certain spots.

The meaning behind my artwork is its early in the morning, while everyone was still sleeping. It's very peaceful as you look at the boats and water. This project relates to my life because it makes me think about when I took this photo. I was at Big Sebago with a bunch of my friends and family and a few people woke up early to watch the sun rise including myself. In the future I think my artwork could be stronger by making my prints less splotchy and more clean, especially around on my borders.
