Negative Space Leaves

1. The subject of my creation is that I created a negative space drawing based off of observation of the leaves. The setting is outside things because we tapped leaves, acorns, pinecones and other things on a piece of paper then drew it on a larger paper. I made it by first finding these objects outside then tapping it on a smaller piece of paper. Then I drew the negative space which is the white space from the smaller paper to the larger paper, then I made a pattern with colored pencils where the negative space was. I chose to create this because it's fall and a lot of the leaves are falling so I am trying to show the different leaves, acorns, pinecones and other fall things. I used lines to show the white spots where there was no leaf covering it. I used pattern where the white space was to fill it in.

2. I used framing in my work by using it to show the same image from the smaller paper to enlarge it on the larger paper in the frame. A technique I used was making the sides of the leaves pointy to show what exactly the object is. My project evolved because at first I just had all my leaves taped on a smaller piece of paper and then I enlarged the image on a larger piece of paper but just drawing the white space from the smaller paper. I changed some of the negative spaces because some of them were too close to each other.

3. The meaning behind my artwork is that I tried to show the different things about fall. The story is that I love fall so I showed different pieces about it. This relates to my life because I created something that is meaningful that has to do with maine and the seasons. My completed work makes me feel happy because I think I showed all the elements and principles that we were trying to convey in this art assignment. I think that my artwork could have been stronger because I could have made the colors that I drew in the negative space fall colors to make my art really show what it is. I also could have paid more attention to my spacing because I feel like somethings are really close to each other.
