The subject of my creation are lighter skinned people leaving without the darker skinned people. The setting is out side where they are standing at the bus stop, I added a cloud, sky and ground to make that more clear. I made my project by first drawing on the linoleum with a 6B pencil then I used different size tools to cave it out. Lastly I rolled ink evenly so I could get a nice print. I chose to create this because I focus on an issue that is particularly important to me. In my artwork I used texture by carving out the negative spaces. I played around with the texture and feel of the linoleum, because I typically would not make a print. I also used contrast by carving deep enough to really show the dark spaces from light spaces.

In my artwork, I showed leading lines and specifically placed the lines in certain spots, so you can tell what the piece is. For example I placed lines on the peoples faces to show their emotion and the letters on the sign to know what I was trying to show. Over the course of this project I had to change where I was carving, because some spots were more dark than I wanted. I also accidentally carved out the bottom of the sign, so I drew that back in after.

At the beginning of this project I wanted to do something on segregation and race, so I thought of doing this because of the different movements people did when this was a huge issue. This is still a big issue but not as important as it was. This relates to my life because I feel like everyone should be equal and we should not have this segregation that is still an ongoing issue. I think my artwork could be stronger by making sure my print is completely filled in and is perfect. Also I would change how I carved out the faces.
