Oil Pastel Color Study
1. The subject is a woman on a magazine page. She is surrounded by other people in the background. I made the work by finding a page in a magazine then I had to grid it. I filled in each individual square by mixing oil pastels to match the color on the magazine page. I chose to create this because it had different colors that would look good when blended. In my work I used color to show the colors in from the magazine page to my drawing.
2. In my artwork I used formal balance to center the women in the middle of my artwork. Additionally I used selective focus because the women is the main point, so you focus on it, instead of the background. My project evolved because my squares were not welly blended so I went back and blended them better. Each square had to match the magazine page so I added different colors and shades to make it match right. I had to cut off squares because I didn't have time to finish the bottom of my artwork.
3. The meaning is that I created a women by looking at a page from a magazine. My artwork relates to my life because I chose what I wanted to create. I chose something that looked fun but also interesting. The women looked like she was serious which I tried to show in my artwork. I think my artwork could be stronger by not adding as much black to my work because it makes my squares look like their not blended, so it just looks worse.
