"eye am watching you"
6"x 3"
The subject of my creation is a drawing of my eyes, then I used water color to paint over it. My piece shows emphasis on the eyes, and nose, because those areas are more colorful than the rest. I wanted to continue to show selective color in my piece, to really highlight certain areas. This relates to my life because this is a painting of my eyes. I took out the most meaningful parts and drew them and added color, to match the values on my photograph of my face.
I used pen to draw my facial features, then I went in with water color on drawing paper. I looked at an image of myself as a reference, and in the photograph I was burnt, so i added red on the nose and under my eyes. I used yellow, greens and reds in my painting. I wanted to make areas lighter by adding less water, but the paper was absorbing the water and it was hard to lighten areas
I used line in my artwork to outline where my facial features were . I also showed contrast from the lines to the color. I wish the watercolor was lighter, to show more contrast, although when I added more water, the paper would smudge. My next steps in this project would be to add more watercolor to the face, and try to make some areas lighter.
