Perspective

Perspective

3"x 7 1/2"

The subjects of my creation are three different facial features, each in separate grids. My piece shows perspectives of different features and how they each interact with each other. I stayed with the theme to stay within a black to white range, with grays, this connects my pieces together more, it also shows emphasis on the facial features. This relates to my life because each of these paintings show a different expression and each expression I see is shown through facial features.

I used acrylic on canvas paper, so the paint would dry quickly. I took the images in the light room of Gracie and used them as references. I used larger paintbrushes for larger areas, and smaller pain brushes for smaller arias like the eye and mouth. The white and black paints created emphasis throughout my piece, which is connected to my question. I purposely put the nose and mouth on the sides so the black background would emphasis the features.

I used value in my artwork to express the white and black tones. I also showed emphasis by making the features the focal point of my piece and making the sides of each box black. At first I wanted to do more than 3 paintings, but I decided to make it symmetric and do three pieces. My next steps in this project would be to push some of my lighter values more, especially on the eye.
