Concentration #4

The subject of my creation is an owl made of fused glass. I made the owl with a blue background, although I hadn't finished the blur all the way around the blue glass around the outside, but I like how it turned out in the end. I made this out of tiny glass pieces, that I arranged on a glass slab to look like an owl. I used elmer's glue so that all the pieces would stay on the slab. Once I glued everything I put it in the kiln and after it fused together. I chose to create this because it shows an understanding of my concentration. One element that is shown in my artwork is color. I used opposite colors and colors that I thought would look good together. One principal that is shown in my artwork is contrast between the blue and orange. I purposely chose those colors for this reason.

One composition rule and technique that is shown in my artwork is grouping, by putting all the orange glass together to make the body of the owl. My project evolved over the course of this project because I had first used the slap as the owls body, but then I noticed the shape of the owl would be a square. Then I took all the glass off and replaced it so that the body would look more like and owls body.

The meaning behind my artwork is to show my concentration and I used glass to do that. I showed an owl in my artwork because that is the main idea of my concentration. This relates to my life because I enjoy owls I wanted to show them through glass. I like to use a variety of materials throughout my concentration. I think next time my artwork could be stronger by making more of these glass slabs with different colors, or I could make wings on my owl.
