1. The subject of my creation is Scout my friends dog. She is in front of bushes with leaves on the ground. I made the work first using the square method to enlarge it onto a larger paper. In my art I used charcoal and ink but I also used graphite to draw the squares, that I erased as I went. I also used my finger to blend the charcoal. I chose to create this art because I love Scout. I also thought it was a good image to show contrast and value between the light and dark tones.
2. I used sharp focus to make the main focus Scout by making her look like she is popping out. My project evolved because I had to first draw the squares, then I drew what was in the squares. I used charcoal and ink to create my piece, but I had to keep layering charcoal and blending it to make it darker.
3. The meaning of my art is that I chose something that I love. I took this photo a few months ago and thought it was really cute, so I wanted to show it in my art. This relates to my life because I took the photo then drew it of one of my favorite dogs. I think I could have made my art stronger by adding more ink in the background to make it darker so it will match the image better.
