November 26, 2025Brain rot is going through the younger generation, and kids are on the internet a lot, mostly on Social media. People often take advantage of kids who spend a lot of time on the internet, and would say kids should limit their time on the internet because of the risk.
Over the past decade there has been a rise of younger kids on social media plate forms. With 35% of teen using a least one form of social media several times. Leading kids to do popular trains that don't stimulate their brains cause they say “67”, “skipidi”, ect.
This has affected kids in multiple different ways in negative ways. Philip Barainyak, a teacher of 17 years at Carver engineering and science high school, has seen this first hand how this has changed kids' academics and their ability to learn.
“I would say, a lack of studying, a lack of attention span, you know, not being able to engage in things that don’t immediately give them a serotonin hit,” Barainyak said.
With so many students being on tiktok and influenced by social media. It can be seen in kids as young as 8-12 year olds. With at least 40% of kids in this age range using social media they are more likely to be easily influenced. Since they are so young they don't look into the stuff they are saying and the meaning behind it, just blindly following a trend. Mr.Leed a teacher and a father of 2 boys has been on both sides of seeing how people of all ages are brain rotted.
“Oh, a lot of my students, to varying degrees, my nine year old son, to a varying degree, his friends, his friends are particularly, is especially into brain rot,” Leed aid.
From people having dreads to the term “67”. Brain rot has gotten worse by the day. With kids on the internet so much they worry about it more than they do school work. This is a result in kid mental health at a very young age and them having to worry about if its cool or not. With this kids who are on social media for 3 hours or more are more likely to have depression or anxiety. Thus kids at younger ages who are brainrotted don't understand that being on social media this much have a big effect when they get older.
“Being online constantly means that you’re constantly worried about what you're going to say or what others people are going to say,” Barainyak said.
