According to the school district of philadelphia, There has been a few slight changes to the 2025-2026 School selection Process.
Stacy Siegel, an English second language (ESL) teacher, and a staff member at Eliza B. Kirkbride school who guides 8th grade students explains the new changes for the school selection process this year.
“This year, its really important that your first choice is the one you want to go…” Siegel says. “Your first school should definitely be the one you want to go to.”
With these new changes, Students might have a hard time deciding which schools they wanted to put on the top spot.
“We had teachers from different high schools come over to talk to us. Each school had their differences so it was really hard to decide which school i wanted to put at the top of my list.” Melissa Munoz, a student in 8th grade attending Eliza B. Kirkbride says.
Parents also worry about which schools are best for their child.
Ricardo Hernandez, Parent of Melissa states, “I mean, my child is growing and I want my child to experience a good 4 years in high school. I want her to go to a school where she feels comfortable and safe”
The schools acceptance offers come on around January, which is only two months away.
“Im looking forward to meeting new people from different places.” Munoz says.
As the end of the year is coming soon, 8th grade students are prepared to transition from middle school to high school.
“follow your heart, follow your passions, and do what feels right inside your heart, then it never feels like work.” Seigel advices her 8th grade students
