April 9, 2025As Philadelphia prepares to welcome spring in the coming weeks, community advocates at the local park are cleaning the area in the hopes of improving neighbors' mental health. The FDR Park Plan creates many different play areas with the addition of a trail. Including this can make it better for the people in the community by having easily accessible fields, courts, etc.
"The park and the surrounding neighborhoods, and community investment that brings about neighborhood cohesion, FDR Park can heal Philadelphia’s ecology and people," said Myphillypark, the website of the Fairmount Park Conservancy.
The park plan has many ways to make the park last for years and become memorable for the youth with everything there is to come.
"The renewed FDR Park will have more trails, meadows, nature, and water. State-of-the-art athletic fields for youth and adults, elevated above the floodplain, are complemented with concessions, trails, a permanent home for the Southeast Asian Market, and a second signature play space," said Myphillypark.
With the new 2026 restoration, Myphillypark thinks that this will save lives and keep people away from bad things like violence and community difference problems. Expanding on the point of the park saving lives and improving the community, a new and restored green park will improve physical and mental health, foster social connections, promote environmental sustainability, and even stimulate economic growth. Myphillypark has high hopes and expectations for the park and has confidence that it will do everything it says it will do.
"Great parks save lives," said Myphillypark.
