Missing from the constitution

The US constitution was revolutionary for the time. However, I believe that a few things are missing from the constitution that should have been included

  • Term limits: people live a lot longer and are in office forever. Twelve years is enough for anyone.

  • The electoral college was intended to elect the president. We should enforce that by mandating secret ballots for the electoral college.

  • The US was supposed to be a Republic. Therefore Impeachment and conviction should be decided by congress, not the voters. Congress should use secret ballots

  • A mid term public vote of no confidence that would remove the president and replace him with the runner up for his party's nomination

  • A definition of the lifespan of a copyright/trademark

  • The modern phrase, "Congress shall have the power to enforce this document by appropriate legislation"

  • A formal process for the succession of states or group states from the United States

  • A formal process for the citizens of The United States to petition the Supreme Court to review the constitutionality of a law or practice without having to frame the question as a case between two people

  • An expiration date for the Constitution that would automatically trigger a Constitutional convention
