Competitive Pay

Competitive salaries for elected officials

When businesses can’t hire qualified employees, business offer higher salaries or other perks. When voters are disappointed with their representatives in Washington , the voters want vengeance Are voters the type of employers you want to work for, ever.

Didn’t think so

People you would consider qualified already have jobs. People you would consider qualified consider their current job to be serving their country. People you would consider qualified have quality called self respect.

We need a new plan. We should offer competitive salaries. Instead of punishing our leaders, the US should pay enough to attract quality candidates.

Now, I know that people are enraged that members of congress retire rich. Public servants shouldn't come home rich. However, I think that members of congress deserve to come home rich. Most Senators represent at least a million people. Most representatives represent at least a half a million people. Members of congress usually serve at least a dozen years. Congress is a highly competitive career. Congress is a law making board of directors with responsibility over the government of the richest, most powerful country in the world. Multiply that together and you get a career that should be well paid. Remember, if we don't pay our politicians, someone else will.

Ground Rules

America’s President is akin to a CEO of the largest company in the world. Other officials are lower ranked employees in this enormous organization. We should pay our elected officials accordingly

  • We should pay our president as much as the highest paid CEO in the world

  • The Vice President should be paid half of that

  • Let's pay our Senators the average of the largest 100 companies

  • Let's pay our representatives the average pay of the CEOs of the Fortune 500

  • For retirement, pay them 1/12th of their pay per year of service up to their full pay

  • New hires should receive a signing bonus of one month salary

  • CEO pay is measured by total compensation package, not just their paycheck
