Greenland

Over the years, the US has acquired large stretches of choice real estate. By stealing or purchasing ( or a little in between) America has acquired everything from the Appalachian Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. In addition, we have acquired two beautiful states, Alaska and Hawaii. Few people have described the new lands as mistakes.

Now we have another proposal for acquiring Greenland. This would not be a mistake, for America. Greenland is prime real estate. Greenland is covered with ice, but that won't be for long. Greenland includes claim to an extensive stretch of beach and an enormous stretch of ocean. Greenland also includes a large claim to the arctic.

However, the people of Greenland don't like a deal with the US. The natives of Greenland have sovereignty. The natives of Greenland have healthcare. The natives of Greenland are treated, for want of a better term, as people.

There is nothing in this that is unacceptable to the US. The population of Greenland is less than 60K. Providing for their welfare shouldn't cost too much. Our offer to Greenland could include protection for the rights of the people of Greenland. Our treaty with Denmark and with Greenland (it would have to be a treaty) is negotiable. All we need is a deal maker to quietly sit down with the representatives of Denmark and of Greenland and discuss this like calm and thoughtful adults. I would suggest sending Mike Pence.
