Reinstating the Draft

The US has been drafting young men, with limited success, since our independence. In the 1980's, the US decided to move to an all volunteer army. However, when our country decided to occupy Iraq and Afghanistan simultaneously, something had to give. The Pentagon extended service members term without their consent,. The government called it stop-loss. The service personal called it a backdoor draft. Obviously, in the middle of two wars, the government needed a draft to enlist enough personal to fight both wars simultaneously.

IMHO, if the government doesn't have the support of the public to reinstate the draft, then the government didn't have the public support to fight both wars. I think that we should amend the constitution to prohibit a stop-loss order without a formal declaration of war or a civilian draft. Either one would show a civilian support for the war effort
