US Metric Conversion

US metric conversion

Or, drive on the correct side of the road

Many of my friends, almost seven billion in fact, have wondered why my country has not converted to the metric system. This is my best explanation

Trading cars across national borders is complicated. Every country's standards are a bit different. The bigger and richer the country, the pickier they are about automotive standards. However , the most annoying requirement is countries insist on driving on different sides of the road. This means that many types of cars have limited distribution because of the cost of building two types of cars. What's worse is the compromise car that designed for both sides of the street. Compromise cars aren't the best design for any market. Car makers have the habit of doing things like putting the speedometer in the middle of the dashboard

What we need is an international standard for the correct side of the road. How about giving the world an advanced notice. After five years, everyone is going to have to drive on the correct side of the road

What's that?

You hate the the very thought of other countries telling you what do in your country? You're proud of your country doing things differently than everyone else? You just don't feel like changing something that obviously works?
