Permanent Olympic Site

This is a very old idea. However, I want to put in my vote.

The Olympics are an international celebration where athletes from around the globe come together to bare witness to another city's willingness to burn money. Every two years, another city rebuilds this globetrotting money pit.

The Olympics need a permanent site. Not only could the village and stadiums be reused, the transportation infrastructure and housing added for the Olympics could also be reused.

All we need is a centrally located city that's big enough to host the Olympics and (hopefully) desirable as a tourist destination . It also has the conflicting needs of a summer that's warm enough for the Summer Olympics and a snowy winter location that's less than a day away.

A good host country would be free and at least mildly Democratic. Dictatorships need not apply

It would also be preferable that the host country not be locked an any sort of global struggle that would make other countries feel unwelcome

Suggestions

Greece: The original Olympic host country has wanted to permanently host the Olympics ever since the Olympics modern revival. Plus Greece does still have skying resorts (3 out of 5 stars)

Switzerland: Just the perfectly neutral and friendly home for an Olympic village. Switzerland just cold enough for winter snow and just warm enough for summer events.
