Republic for America

The founding fathers despised a democracy. They believed in a Republic, where the American people elected wise and skilled leaders who decide issues for us. Americans have subverted and thwarted this at every possible opportunity. The voters have gotten everything they claim they've wanted, resulting in a complete mess. Therefore, I am proposing amending the constitution to enact two reforms to our government that will allow our government to decide issues for themselves rather than listen to public opinion.

Ground Rules

Since we are stuck with the Electoral College, the US should allow the Electoral College to actually elect the president by requiring them to hold secret ballots as is a tradition of a jury rather than act as a flock of carrier pigeons carrying messages from the voters. The elector's votes should take place in secret

On the matter of impeachment and conviction, congress should be required to vote in private so that this most important vote should be decided by congress rather than the public.

I know that there is no way the Supreme Court would do anything to enforce this, but I still want this rule on the record.
