California Area Space Administration(CASA)

Support Earth science space missions

The United States and the sovereign state of California are at odds over space policy.

  1. NASA has been designed to spread federal dollars all over the US. California's SpaceX builds their rockets in one factory in California. Therefore, SpaceX doesn't employee anyone in any other state. Most taxpayers don't like to fund programs that don't hire people in their state

  2. The US doesn't believe in climate change and California does. Therefore, if California wants satellite data to study the climate, California will have to launch satellites

  3. California is now the leader in building rockets. California should support its own industry.

  4. California is a high tech country with the fifth largest economy in the world. Time to fly the flag.

Therefore, California should fund its own space agency. I estimate that a 0.5% sales tax would raise about 4 billion dollars a year, enough to fund a more focused space agency than NASA. That's a big bill to swallow, but it would study climate change, promote technological growth and plant the California state flag on the moon and on mars.

Hopefully, they will also invite the states of Oregon and Washington to join in.

PS I know that the BFS test vehicles are being built in Texas. However, most of the value (as far as I can tell) is being built or developed in California. Texas is (IMHO) building stainless steel water tanks.
