Presidential vote of no confidence

I think, thanks to Americans rejecting the entire notion of objective reality, that the very notion of impeachment as a trial is quaint and obsolete. Instead, we need a constitutional amendment that offers a politically based alternative that addresses that modern development. I was thinking a vote of no confidence.

Ground Rules

Instead of trial by the Senate, congress should schedule a national vote of no confidence. It would be a simple, up or down, popular vote on the president. If the vote was no, the president would be replaced by the runner up in the president's primary. Those who think this would be purely political could take this up with President Ted Cruise
