National Driver's License

Now, I'm not qualified to discuss any of this. I don't drive and I've never held a license to drive. However, I have heard from several informal sources that an American driver's license is not that impressive. i blame this on America's belief that a drivers license is a constitutional right.

I suggest offering, not a replacement, but an alternative. Our federal government could offer a drivers license. It could be a premium license. The training could be two weeks of hands-on training followed by a day of real world testing. People who want be held to a higher standard could step up to the plate and prove their ability, even if it wasn't something they didn't have before they took the course and test.
