PARISH COUNCIL YOUTH COMMITTEE – will meet today in the Presbytery Dining Room, all children between the ages of 6 years and 16 years are welcome.

FULL PARISH COUNCIL – The next Parish Council meeting will be on Sunday 18th September following the 9.30 Mass. The minutes of the previous meeting are displayed on the notice board. Any parishioner wishing to have anything discussed at the Parish Council meeting should write or speak to a PC member before 11th September.

MACMILLAN NURSES – Sunday 18th September there will be a Coffee Morning after Mass to raise funds for MacMillan Nurses. Our Parish Youth Council will be providing the cakes. Raffle tickets will be sold on Sunday 11th and Sunday18th Sept. after Mass.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY – The children's Liturgy will recommence after the summer holidays on Sunday 11th Sept.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION – You are all invited to attend a Day of Recollection 8th October 2016 at Minsteracres led by Rob Wareing.. COFFEE AFTERNOONS – The next two Coffee Afternoons will be this Thursday 8th Sept. 2016 and Thursday 13th Oct 2016 at 1.30pm. These are open to ALL, not just parishioners, Please come along.

YEAR OF MERCY – On the back of the bulletin is information for all parishioners, especially young families, to get involved in planned activities. Please read and contact Kathryn Maggs 07540 065414 or Jerry Laidler.

PARKING – For the safety of Parents with children in pushchairs & young children, parishioners in wheelchairs, or with walking aids; can we request that parishioners refrain from parking on footpaths.

GARDENERS – We have lost one of our helpers (very careless), can anyone help out with the gardening. You don't have to be available every week, but it would help. Please contact Frank Swindle on 07779425610

… FTiH - IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ …

Thank you to all those who have provided input to this phase – it is much appreciated. We will continue to have discussions after Mass during the coffee morning. On Sunday 25th September after 9:30 Mass we will again have a meeting within the church – all are welcome and your opinion matters, so please do attend. A summary of what parishioners have put forward is in the Forward Together in Hope (FTiH) book at the back of church near the font – Please take time to read it. It is also published on our website.

      • Saturday 10th September with the Pilgrimage Walk across the Causeway commencing @ 12:30pm.

      • Mass will be celebrated by Fr Chris Hughes in St. Mary’s Church @ 3pm.

      • Safe crossing times are between 11:30am & 8:20pm.

    • CAFOD Harvest Fast Day Briefing - Focus is on a Community in Bolivia. You are most welcome to attend either session.

      • Tuesday 14th September from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at St. Hilda’s Resource Centre, West Road, Newcastle

      • Wednesday, 21st Wednesday @7.00pm -8.30pm @St. Mary’s, Hexham

    • St. Mary’s, Hexham ‘Galilee Talks’ resume with Fr. Bede Lowe on ‘The Sacrament of Mercy: Revisiting Confession’ - Saturday 24th September 2016 - 11:00am Refreshments served from 10:30am - All are welcome

    • ‘Day of Reflection – Exploring Prayer’ led by Deacon Jude Newton - Crookham URC church on Saturday 10th September – 10am until 4pm – All are welcome

    • The Diocese Centre for Prayer and Mission – Antrim Gardens, Seaham have a number of courses – Please see programme on St. John’s website or on the bulletin board. One of particular interest may be their Support Day on Sat Sept 10th from 10-1pm with the theme of ‘Ministries in the light of the Works of Mercy’ and will be very practical.

CAFOD – Used Ink Cartridges – Updated Scheme for CAFOD …

A BIG thank you to St. Pauls for providing over £20 of Ink Cartridges – Much appreciated. Also thank you ALL for supporting this worthwhile cause.

If anyone has any used Canon or HP Ink Cartridges please bring them to church and put in the tin next to the prayer tree. The children are collecting them for CAFOD. The recycling scheme is completely free of charge and 100% of the value of all inkjet cartridges successfully recycled will be donated to CAFOD – each cartridge could be worth as much as £2.
