MACMILLAN NURSES – Next Sunday ((18th September) there will be a Coffee Morning after Mass to raise funds for MacMillan Nurses. Our Parish Youth Council will be providing the cakes. Raffle tickets will also be sold this Sunday11th and Sunday18th Sept. after Mass.

FULL PARISH COUNCIL – The next Parish Council meeting will be next Sunday 18th September following the 9.30am Mass. The minutes of the previous meeting are displayed on the notice board. Any parishioner wishing to have anything discussed at the Parish Council meeting should write or speak to a PC member today.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY – The children's Liturgy will recommence today after the summer holidays.

COFFEE AFTERNOONS – The next two Coffee Afternoons will be on Thursday 13th Oct 2016 and Thursday 10th November 2016 at 1.30pm. These are open to ALL, not just parishioners, Please come along.

PARKING – For the safety of Parents with children in pushchairs & young children, parishioners in wheelchairs, or with walking aids; can we request that parishioners refrain from parking on footpaths.

… FTiH - IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ …

Thank you to all those who have provided input to this phase – it is much appreciated. We will continue to have discussions after Mass during the coffee morning. On Sunday 25th September after 9:30 Mass we will again have a meeting within the church – all are welcome and your opinion matters, so please do attend. A summary of what parishioners have put forward is in the Forward Together in Hope (FTiH) book at the back of church near the font – Please take time to read it. It is also published on our website.

Forward Together in Hope – Vicariate Meeting - This is an OPEN invitation to ALL.

The Diocese FTiH team will come to our deanery with the purpose of further explaining the process of creating ‘partnerships’ with our community, what a new partnership could look like, to confirm expectations about the next stages of the process and to allow parishioners to ask questions.

Prayer Outside of FTiH Meetings – As we go through this phase of FTiH we encourage all parishioners to prayer for its success and for the communities around us whom we serve and outreach to.

During this time, could you help partake in some of the prayer suggestions that we have.

If you have any suggestions yourself, please let us know.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – Starting Friday 23rd Sept before 7pm Mass we will have silent adoration to prayer for our church, community and the FTiH process.

Daily Prayer Focus – Could you prayer at home, or during the week at Eucharistic Services/Mass or wherever you are for the success of FTiH. A suggested format is below:

    1. Sunday – Everyone!

    2. Monday – All the clergy in our deanery

    3. Tuesday – Parish Pastoral Councils & Finance Committees

    4. Wednesday – Catechists, teachers and students

    5. Thursday – Families of all shapes and sizes that make up our community

    6. Friday – All those involved in the upkeep & running of our churches

    7. Saturday – For Bishop Séamus and those who will be responsible for assisting him in decision-making.

Concert at St. Bede’s Bedlington - ASHINGTON MALE VOICE CHOIR to commemorate 6 years of “OPEN HOUSE“ - Tues 13th Sept - at 6.30pm - Entry Free - Donation for Refreshments – All Welcome

Celebrating the Mercy of God – Interfaith gathering with short talks - Wed 21st Sept - Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Old Durham Road, Wrekenton, NE9 6RZ - Light supper buffer from 6pm. The main event starts at 7pm.

Voices of Mercy - Feed the Hungry – At the Gurwarda, in Cottenham Street, Newcastle, NE4 5QU.

Here, the Sikh community feed around 300 people every day. They will share something of their work with us as will David Cross from CAFOD and Walter Knoblauch Newcastle Food Bank. The talks start at 7.00pm and finish at 8.30pm but, in keeping with the tradition of the Community, we are invited for a meal beforehand that will start at 6.15pm.
