RETIRING COLLECTIONA Special Collection will be taken this weekend for the “Prisoner Advice and Care Trust”

WW1 COMMEMORATIONS – Please remember this weekend the 100th Anniversary of the death of Thomas Pollard

(18th October 1914) the first parishioner from St. John's to be killed in the First War.

EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SYNOD OF BISHOPS – We are asked to pray for the Synod to be held 5- 21 October 2014 to treat the topic “The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization”.

COFFEE AFTERNOONS – The Parish Council have considered a suggestion to hold a regular coffee afternoon (Weekly/Fortnightly/Monthly). Can you mention this to the housebound and those who find it difficult to get to Mass. A list is at the back of church for those wishing to attend, to help with organising and if possible, providing transport.

MASS OFFERINGS – Mass offerings (Intentions) are not too far in advance now. Please use the envelopes available at the back of church. If you want a mass offered on a specific date, please give your telephone number on the envelope just in case your required date is not available.

ALL SOULS DAY MASS – Please see the invite on the back of this Newsletter to remember especially parishioners who have died this year and to invite their family or friends to our special Mass.

CONFIRMATIONS – By Bishop Seamus will take place at St. Paul's, Cramlington on Thursday 14th May 2015, this celebration is available to St. John's parishioners. Criteria – must be year 9 and above in accord with new Diocesan guidelines. Information Evening has already been held 16th October 2014 (apologies from Gerry Killen), for information please contact Rob Wareing.

FR. LERCHE – Last mass at Cramlington Sunday 19th October 2014 but he is having a special con-celebrated Mass on Wednesday 22nd October at 7pm. All are welcome, contributions towards a leaving present can be given to John Reid.

YOUTH MINISTRY CONFERENCE WITH DAVID WELLS – All adult and young people (15+) are invited to this years conference entitled “Outrageous Hope” on Saturday 22nd November 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic School, Newcastle. No charge but please book early on 01207 592244 or email admin@ymt.org

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL – Of solidarity for suffering Christians in the world. Thursday 23rd October 2014 at The Monument Newcastle 5-7pm. Please bring your own candle.
