A BIG THANK YOU!

A Big Thank You to you ALL from the J&P Refugee Project organisers.

During a recent visit to the Deaf Centre in Newcastle where the J&P refugee project is co-ordinated from, a number of organisers heartily thank St. John the Baptist parishioners for their generosity and excellent selection of items – especially hygiene products such as shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes etc – all of which were urgently needed. So thank you all for supporting St. John’s Youth Council in making this happen – it is making a difference to those brothers and sisters most in need. Further information is at the back of church

Partnership Update – Your Seaton Delaval Partnership

The Partnership Finance Group has been created to work under the Partnership Development Group (PDG), which is the main body to oversee our joint work in the area. Each parish will keep its existing system, but the partnership will also have a joint account to allow some resources to be shared. This will also apply to any admin help we employ. The PDG met on Thursday 13th July at Annitsford, to form a spirituality network (with people from all parishes), to share ideas & schemes to aid prayer-life, youth work and the helping of people at home/in care. Since some people who work in parishes could not come, it was decided to reform it as a smaller, more focused working-party and organise some events for Sept/Oct with two reps from each parish, plus clergy. They met on Monday 17th July and have planned a Partnership Mass to be held at Our Lady and St. Joseph, New Hartley at 7pm on Friday 22nd September with the theme of ‘Our Sacred Journey’ followed by wine and cheese in the memorial hall across the road. On Saturday 7th October, we will have a ‘Harvest Festival Mass’ at 11am at Sacred Herat, Gosforth – more details to follow.
