Introduce yourself
I want to give you an update and also an invitation
An update about FTiH on the information we have so far and the feedback you have kindly provided
An invitation to become more involved and letting us hear your opinions
After Mass today we will be having a FTiH meeting so please stay if you can.
If you can’t stay, then no problem – there is a suggestion box at the back of church
Those who travel on the bus I will again be travelling with you over the next few weeks to get your views.
As you may know, a mission was founded in Annitsford in 1863
Mrs. Emmaline Shawe-Storey provide money and land to build “The Church in the Trees
And in 1906 St. John’s Church was consecrated
St. John’s was founded on missionary work and will always be a missionary parish – - changing and adapting - reaching out to those it serves.
It helped develop our sister parishes of Backworth and St. Paul’s in Cramlington – It serves parishioners beyond the Northumberland border
If the missionary work and the kindness of people means anything for us today, then it must not be just some form of nostalgia, but an inspiration for the future.
Let’s assess the years passed; judge the present time: plan, faithfully and imaginatively, for the future.
At the vicariate meeting the other week we were asked to think imaginatively and to look beyond our parish in to our communities that we serve.
On the back of the bulletin is some of the captured output – please read it and take it away with you
Though we are on track to deliver our proposal by the 1st Sunday of Advent (27th November) – we have a lot to do – There is a lot of documentation from the diocese and it is displayed at the back of church.
On the back of the bulletin you will see there are two proposals for your consideration.
There is one proposed by our clergy that Fr. Harriott spoke of the other Sunday.
This sees Cramlington & Annitsford being part of the Blyth Church Centre or Hub.
The other proposal is looking south to our diocese and making a partnership with Sacred Heart and other parishes of Newcastle
We need your input – At the back of church there is a list with the possible proposals & partnerships
The FTiH process asks us to think imaginatively and to try to create partnerships of about 6/7 parishes.
Please provide a tick to the proposal you think best suits us at this time. If you think both proposals are valid please tick both proposals.
OR PLEASE provide an alternative proposal/suggestion for everyone’s consideration.
Lastly we want to say that we have taken your feedback and acted up on it.
Your feedback has highlighted a number of areas that together - and hopefully with our wider community – we can build on and develop as we grow and develop our partnerships with those around us
Over the last few weeks on the back of the bulletin you would have seen a picture of a tree that represents a number of areas of parish life.
This now hangs in the hall and we will use it to inform and capture your ideas & comments.
Thank you and please keep providing you input and we look forward to discussing this further after Mass.
