GARDENERS – An Urgent appeal for anyone who can spare some time to maintain the gardens in their excellent condition. We are EXTREMELY short of helpers, this is putting a strain on the few that we have.

ST. BEDE'S, BEDLINGTON SILVER JUBILEE – Friday 20th October 2017 at 7pm. Concelebrated Mass with Bishop Cunningham followed by refreshments in the Parish Hall. All are welcome.

COFFEE AFTERNOONS – The next two Coffee Afternoons will be on Thurs. 9th Nov. & Thurs. 14th Dec. 2017 at 1.30pm. These are open to ALL, not just parishioners, Please come along and invite a friend and/or your neighbour.

StJohns YPC – Dates for Your Diary

Today - Newcastle Council of Faiths - Annual Walk for Peace - 12.30pm – 3:15pm. Starting from the Hindu Temple, West Road, Newcastle. A nice stroll from the Hindu Temple to the Church of the Venerable Bede stopping off for refreshments at Central Mosque, Sikh Gurdwara and first Synagogue in the City.

If any children wish to go, please see Kathryn, Sharon, Kim or Jerry.

Sunday 29th October – First Holy Communion Commitment 9:30am Mass - This year, the FHC Commitment Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist church during our 9:30am Mass.

This is a big part of the faith journey of the children and their parents will be invited to renew the commitment they made at their child’s baptism. Please prayer for them and we thank and pray for all those involved in helping the children through their journey of faith.

Saturday 4th November - Poppy Wreath Workshop – 11am until 2pm in the Hall

StJohns YPC will again make poppy wreaths and named tags of those who have fallen in our parish for Remembrance Sunday Mass. Hot dogs and juice provided – All children are most welcome to attend.

Sunday 12th November 9:30am Mass – Remembrance Sunday – Cenotaph & Balloon Release

As with last year, we will have a short ceremony at the gravesides of those who have fallen and be releasing red balloons in their memory. The poppy wreaths will be taken by some of the children and laid at the Cenotaph in Cramlington Village. Again, all children are most welcome to attend. Please also see last year’s short video of the blessing and releasing of the balloons, which is on St. John’s website/social media.

Friday 8th December - Partnership Christmas Party – Benedictine Social Club – 7pm til 11pm

Christmas party for all the family and open to all in our partnership and community.

    • 7pm til 9pm – Children’s disco and entertainment – Family Fun Games

      • 8pm Shhhhh - You Know Who Pays a Visit (HoHoHo)

    • 9pm til late – 60’s/70’s/80’s music (and of course Christmas music)

      • Also @9pm buffet starts – Shared Table (so please bring something small)

Adult ticket £3, Children ticket £1. Total number restricted to 150.

Growth in the Spirit Seminars @Sacred Heart starting on Monday 16th October @7pm - Will be starting up again and all are invited. This session of Growth in the Spirit consists of four talks on CD's which are in some ways thought provoking and will no doubt lead to some lively and interesting discussions. Even if you missed all or part of the Life in the Spirit Seminars, these talks will still be appropriate to anyone wanting to increase their awareness of the Holy Spirit in their lives. FaceBook Page – The Partnership Development Group (PDG) have launched a new Facebook page. ‘Hopefully as this develops it will be a useful means of keeping in touch and advertising all the good work and many activities going on around our partnership.’ If you do use FB, Simply search for ‘Seaton Delaval Catholic Partnership’ or follow the link on St. John the Baptist webpage – we wish them well in all the do, so please keep supporting.

Diocesan Update & Developing Discipleship - Please take home with you the ‘Developing Discipleship’ leaflets, which are at the back of church. These have been created ‘to help connect, inspire and inform those wishing to develop as Disciples.’

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them and teaching them. This is 'Why' the Church gathers. It is Our Mission Statement."

The latest edition of ‘Partnership Matters’ is on the notice board and includes information on Developing Discipleship, Communications and a feature from Blackfriars Partnership. Contributions of news items from Partnerships are always welcome.

All leaflets – Including further detailed information booklet on Developing Discipleship – is in the FTiH book at the back of church near the font. This information is also on the Diocesan website with links from our website.
