MASSES

25th SUNDAY OF THE YEAR

Date 21st SEPTEMBER 2014

CONFESSIONS

Friday: by appointment

Saturday: by appointment

MCMILLAN COFFEE MORNING – This is a national event. There will be a coffee morning in the Church Hall at 10am on Saturday27th September 2014. The presbytery will be open on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th September between from 6-7pm for anyone who wishes to donate cakes etc. Any parishioner willing to help, please contact Pat Carr 01670 716283. The McMillan nurses do a tremendous job.

PARISH FINANCIAL RESULTS – Parish Finances for the year ended 31st March 2014 continue to show a satisfactory overall position. However a decrease in offerings from £41,330 to £39,786 combined with an increase in the cost of running the Parish from £40,201 to £47,516 gives some thought for consideration. The increase in expenditure was mainly due to a higher than anticipated level of costs on items such as the alarm system, windows, mower, gazebo and property maintenance. It is obviously vital for the security of the parish to ensure offertories maintain their current level or even better, increase. We depend on you all in this respect. The Financial Committee would like to thank you all for your tremendous continued support of the Parish. Your generosity to the many charities and good causes we have assisted is amazing.

GIFT AID – There are still a small number of the 2013/14 Gift Aid Donation Statements available at the back of church for collection, please pick up yours as soon as possible. Please note that the diocese has changed it's financial year end from the 5th April to the 31st March, some donors who pay by standing order may only have 11 payments shown on this year's statement. We are very grateful to those who contribute, this year we claimed back £5126.56 tax from the government, this is very important to the continued development of the parish.

BAPTISM – Please remember in your prayers, Samuel David Armstrong who will be bapised this Sunday.

A MASS FOR THE HEALING – The second Deanery Mass for Healing will take place Wednesday

17th September 2014 at St. Paul's RC Church, Percy Street, Alnwick NE66 1AE. There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 6-7pm with the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation with Holy Mass celebrated with the anointing of the sick and Laying on of Hands at 7pm. All are welcome.

CHILDREN'S CANCER WALK – SATURDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 2014 – Tyla Hodkinson age 6 from our parish who has Leukemia completed the walk with his sister Daisy. If you sponsored them, please can you pay your money. The most difficult part is collecting sponsorship money.

COFFEE AFTERNOONS – The Parish Council have considered a suggestion to hold a regular coffee afternoon (Weekly/Fortnightly/Monthly) for the lonely of the Parish. Can you mention this to the housebound and those who find it difficult to get to Mass. A list is at the back of church for those wishing to attend, to help with organising and if possible providing transport.
