Mrs. MacMahon's student of the week this week is Jack! He lives with his mom, dad, two brothers, one sister and pet frogs. Jack’s favorite colors are red and blue, and he enjoys watching Zombies. Some of his favorite things include playing soccer, eating spaghetti and reading The Ghost Eye Tree, which also happens to be his mom's favorite book when she was little. When Jack grows up, he hopes to become a veterinarian. We’re so proud to celebrate Jack in our kindergarten family!
Mrs. Stuckeman’s Student of the Week: Mia
Mia lives with her mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and brother. She loves to eat fried chicken, the color pink, and watch Sherif Labrador. Her favorite book is Pegasus. When she grows up, Mia wants to be a police officer. She says she's special because she's curious. Her friend Clara says Mia is a good friend because she plays with her.
Meet Mrs. Williky's student of the week, Emme. Emme lives with her mom, dad, twin brother and her two dogs named Daisy and Ted. Emme likes to eat mac and cheese and her favorite color is pink. Emme's favorite book is Claris the Chicest Mouse in Paris and she likes to watch “Mickey Mouse” on t.v. Emme's favorite sport is gymnastics. When Emme grows up, she either wants to be a kid or a Target worker. Emme says she is special because, “I am kind.” Her friend, Audrey, says that Emme is a good friend because she is nice to me."
WHAT A BUSY WEEK!
This week we stayed at the farm and learned some interesting facts about pigs. Did you know that pigs are really smart and are very good swimmers? We continued to work on identifying and producing rhyming words, counting syllables and listening for beginning sounds in words and finding words that begin with the same sound. In math, the students worked on composing numbers by showing different ways to make numbers up to 5, such as: 5 and 0, 4 and 1, 3 and 2, 4 and 1 and 0 and 5. We are working on counting backwards from 20 to 1 and counting from 1 – 100. In social studies, we learned about our government leaders. Following the Gator Way is something that good leaders always do!
READING CLASSES
We started rotating classes for literacy so your child may be going to a different classroom for reading and writing instruction or staying with his/her homeroom teacher. The students have done a great job switching and have adjusted very well to a new teacher, new classmates and/or both!
WORLD DAY of BULLYING PREVENTION
Monday, October 6th, we will be celebrating World Day of Bullying Prevention by wearing blue, boots and jeans to "stomp out bullying!" We would love to have your child participate.
Remember to look at your child's progress report and let us know if you have any questions. Progress reports go out every six weeks and report cards go out every 9 weeks. These reports are designed to provide feedback to students and parents about student progress toward specific grade level standards. Please be sure to work with your child at home on any standards that have not yet been mastered. They will be assessed again at nine weeks for the report card. Thank you!
LETTER ID and SOUNDS
Your child should be able to confidently identify (within 3 seconds, in random order):
at least 20 upper case letters, at least 20 lower case letters & at least 20 letter sounds.

Students are expected to read, write and spell these words.
