We kindly ask that students begin to bring their jackets or coats to school every day. The temperatures will be unpredictable, so it is better to have one. Any student who doesn't have a jacket or coat when it is below a specific temperature outside will not be able to go out for recess. Thank you!
EXPERT JOURNAL
(Spring Research Project)
In your child's take-home folder last Friday was a very important note about our spring research project. Please read it carefully with your child. The 2nd page will need to be filled out and returned to school no later than Monday, December 15.
In order to be able to take notes for the research, students will each need a set of 50 spiral bound ruled index cards with 5 different colors. Please make sure to get the 4 x 6 size. These can be found several places. At Amazon they come in a 2-pack. You might want to split an order with someone. Here are some links if you want to purchase them online. The brand does not matter.

These will need to be purchased and brought to school when we return from the holidays in January. If you have trouble finding one or need me to provide one, please let me know. I have a few extra ones on hand.

Multiplication and Division Application
Unit Summary: December 1-December 18
Through repeated exposure and practice, students solidify their understanding of the standard algorithm to solve problems involving multiplication of a two-digit number by a one-digit number. Students represent multiplication and division in contextual situations, which provide real-life experiences and enable students to construct multiplication and division models (concrete, pictorial, and area models), equal groups, arrays, strip diagrams, and equations in a relevant way to solve 1- and 2-step problems involving multiplication and division.
Real-world numerical relationships are presented using input-output tables. Students explore number pairs in tables to determine additive and multiplicative patterns that exist and represent the pattern (or process) using equations and expressions.
