This week: We learned about point of view and elements of drama. We continued exploring present, past and future progressive verbs and vowel Sounds /ou/, /o/. We also finished up our opinion writing.
Next week: We will finish Module 3 with our end of unit assessment.! We will explore literary elements, author's craft and point of view. Our focal text will be autobiographical fiction.
This week: We started our decimal unit! We are starting with comparing decimals to fractions as well as looking at how to model them with base ten blocks! We are also comparing them to money. I have included a chart for your reference on how this looks in 4th grade. We are continuing to practice multiplication and division problems.
Next Week: We will continue decimals and learn about comparing them and relating them to money!
This Week : We took our first science test on Tuesday through Edugence. We completed some pre-learning materials for our next unit - structure and function of plants.
Next Week : We will begin our next official unit the structure and function of plants. We will learn about the parts of plants (roots, stems, leaves, and sometimes flowers) and what they do to help plants survive.

This Week : We began our week eight newspaper about the European explorers who came to the Americas and Texas from the 1200s to the 1600s. We completed a group project over an explorer to learn about their lives and motivations for exploration.
Next Week : We will begin our week nine newspaper about significant explorers. These include Alonso Alvarez de Pineda, Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, Antonio de Espejo, Luis de Moscoso de Alvarado, Juan de Onate, and Rene Robert Cavelier. We will compelte a graphic organizer describing each explorer, where they came from, their reason for exploration, and the importance of their expeditions.
