Snack will be at 9:10 each morning. If your child wants a snack, they need to bring a nut free snack. Due to allergies, we are no longer allowed to provide snacks.
Library will be each week. Please remind students to keep their library books safe in their backpack!

This week: We began Module 4: Heroic Feats. We read a fairy tale, explored text and graphic features, point of view, and theme. Our writing focus this unit will be narrative.
Next week: We will read narrative nonfiction and a myth/play. We will synthesize, discuss text structure, ask and answer questions, and explore elements of drama and as figurative language. We will continue writing narrative stories, including plot elements.
This Week: We will talk about financial literacy (all things money) and take our decimal unit test on Friday.
Next Week: We will be working with ALL four operations in order to solve multistep word problems. We will use visuals and model to help us stay organized in our thinking. We will also be using a problem solving strategy called UPScheck. I will attach a sample in a link below.
This Week : We finished our chapter on inherited and acquired traits, we learned about plants response to severe weather and outside factors (branches broken, animals making homes in trees). Other examples include - plants with yellow flowers drop seeds that make plants with more yellow flowers. If my dad has green eyes it is likely that I do too.
Next Week : We will begin our unit on food webs and energy exchange in ecosystems. This first week will be about producers (plants) and how they get energy (from sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide through photosynthesis).

This Week : We began our our week eleven newspaper about the Mexican War of Independence from Spain. We will construct a timeline of events leading up to the revolution and discuss important figures (Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla and Moses Austin) and the Mexican Constitution of 1824.
Next Week : We will take our test on Exploration and Settlement on Tuesday (weeks 8-11 in Studies Weekly). We will begin our week 12 newspaper over the Texas Revolution, including American immigration to Texas (while a part of Mexico), the beginnings of revolution, the battle of the Alamo, Texas declares independence from Mexico, and we will complete a timeline of these events to prove understanding.
