Snack will be at 9:10 each morning. If your child wants a snack, they need to bring a nut free snack. Due to allergies, we are no longer allowed to provide snacks.
Library will be each week. Please remind students to keep their library books safe in their backpack!

This week: We retold/summarized and determined theme in our text, continued working with affixes and decoded words with short and long i spelling patterns. We will learned about using quotations in our writing and finished writing our personal narratives. We also took our first unit assessment!
Next week: We will begin Module 2, exploring this essential question: "How do people and animals use their senses to navigate the world?"
We will transition to reading non-fiction text and informational/descriptive writing. In addition, we will explore short and long O spelling patterns and sentence fragments.
This week: We rounded and estimated solutions. We also took our first math test!
Next Week: We will be reviewing different strategies and models to multiply multi-digit numbers! We will look at arrays, area model and of course the standard algorithm.

This Week : We explored density as a property of matter, conducting experiments to see which objects are less dense than water and float, and which are more dense than water and sink. We designed a "flotation device" with specific materials that were chosen by their relative density.
Next Week : We will explore magnetism as a property of matter, conducting experiments to see which objects are magnetic and which are not. We will find out how to use a magnet to sort objects into groups.
This Week : We began our week three newspaper about the four regions of Texas (great plains, north central plains, coastal plains, and mountains and basins) and compared their features.
Next Week : We will begin our week four newspaper about Texas's locations in the past compared to the present. We will learn about motivations for early settlers, immigration, and technological advancements that made these moves possible.
Our "math mats" are a collection of different organizers that aid in mastery of certain skills!
We set up our data folders this week. Everyone set a math goal for themselves for the month of September!
