Gator Families,
We are on the brink of an amazing week, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone back to campus. Please join us for our "Meet the EduGator" event tomorrow (8/11), which is always a wonderful time for students to meet their new teachers, see their classrooms, and reconnect with friends. Then, the real adventure begins as we officially open our doors for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 13th! Our staff is rested, prepared, and incredibly eager to partner with you for a fantastic year of learning, growth, and discovery. Let the 2025-2026 school year begin!
If you have an incoming kindergartner and were unable to join us for Kinder Camp, please see the Kinder Slides for all the information you will need!

August 11th, 2025 (5:00 pm- 6:00 pm)
You will receive an email by 1:00 on August 11th from your child's teacher! All students will be assigned a homeroom teacher except Kinder. Our kinder students will rotate between all three of our AMAZING kinder teachers to find the perfect spot for your child! Letters will be sent home in two weeks with their teacher.
Please bring your school supplies to Meet the Edugator.
You will receive your car pick up pass at the Meet the Edugator and will be able to print your badge for first day of school if you would like to walk your child.
Would you like to walk your student to their classroom on the 1st day of school?
All visitors must use their ID (driver's license) to Raptor in and print a Visitor's Badge every time they visit Glenhope.
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 13, 2025! Our doors open at 7:20am, and parents are welcome to walk their student to their classroom on the first day by having a Visitor's Badge and presenting a valid photo ID at the door.
You can pre-print your Visitor's Badge at Meet the Teacher Night, or come by Glenhope 8:00-3:00 Monday or Tuesday (August 11 and 12) to sign in and print your badge.
ALL VISITORS MUST HAVE A VISITOR'S BADGE AND PRESENT A MATCHING PHOTO ID TO ENTER THE BUILDING ON THE 1ST DAY.
Students arrive and enter the doors at 7:20. Please have your child to school between 7:20-7:30. Students are most successful when they are in their seats, ready to go when the tardy bell rings at 7:35am.
K-2 goes to the cafeteria from 7:20-7:30 then the teacher picks them up to walk to class at 7:30. 3-5 will go to the gym.
For the safety of your child, students need to be escorted in by parent if they get here after 7:35am.
First week always takes longer, so be patient and plan for extra time.
In car rider line, please have student ready to exit the vehicle when you get to front. If you need to exit the vehicle then please park and walk your child up to the door. We will have staff and Dad's club helping open car doors!
Bus riders will be escorted to their bus by a teacher.
Walkers will be walked outside by a teacher.
Car Riders will wait inside an assigned classroom until their number is called. If you are in the car line, please have your car tag hanging on your mirror so staff can ensure we have called your child's number. You will be given a dismissal sign at Meet the Edugator to put in your car so that dismissal can be expedited.
Be prepared to tell how your student will get home each day when you come to Meet the Edugator. It is recommended to have the same dismissal first day as they usually will to help with practice!
If dismissal plans should change, please send an email to Tanya.Hill@gcisd.net no later than 2:30 p.m.
Again, patience is key in the first week! We will try to get the arrival and dismissal system better and better each day! Safety of our gators is our number 1 priority!
Can I walk my students to class all week?
To help with the routine of school and gaining independence, parents are only allowed to walk students to class on the first day!
When can I have lunch with my child?
We love seeing parents at lunch! Parents will be allowed to come to lunch with their children after Labor Day!
How will I receive communication from my child's teacher?
Weekly newsletters will be sent out next Sunday with grade-level information. These will be in the same hub as our parent newsletter. I will link these individually next week, so you know where to find them! You can email your child's teacher or administration any time you have a question!
What if we pre-purchased school supplies?
If you purchased school supplies, these items will be on the student's desk at Meet the Edugator! If you did not purchase school supplies, the easiest thing to do is bring them on Meet the Edugator night so you can have your hands free for lots of hugs on the first day! ♥️
When can I pick up my school spirit wear that I ordered online?
Our amazing PTA will have a table at Meet the Edugator, where you can get your spirit wear that was already ordered. The spirit shop will open again after the first day!
What if my family can't make it to Meet the Edugator?
We understand if you can't make it. We will make sure you receive any information that you need. Please stop by on Tuesday or Wednesday during the day if you do not come to Meet the Edugator to receive your car pick up tag. You will need this on first day if your child gets picked up by car!
Can my child bring a snack?
All of our children are probably use to eating endless amounts of snacks since it has been summer! 😂 We will have snack time. We do ask that snacks are healthy, not messy, and packed in a different part of the backpack from their lunch.
Can my child eat breakfast at school?
Yes! Please have students that want to eat breakfast at school by 7:20a.m. to eat their breakfast. Our breakfast is $1.85. You can load their accounts through My School Bucks!
I am worried my child won't know how to go through lunch line or not eat.
We will have a practice session on the first day of school morning where all gators practice lunch procedures and practice their lunch numbers if they are buying lunch! We will have ALL hands on deck at lunch and will ensure every single gator gets to eat! :)
Other important reminders:
Have your child bring a water bottle every day! We do have water fountains where they can refill as needed. Make sure water bottles close as they do get knocked over and we want to prevent any messes.
Students must have tennis shoes on PE days!
Extra set of labeled clothes in backpacks are always a good idea!
Medications MUST go to nurse. Please do not send your child with medications. Our nurse will be at Meet the Edugator tomorrow and you can drop off needed medications with her. If you do not have it then, please feel free to stop by any time on Monday or Tuesday to drop medicine off with Nurse Liz. If you have any nurse related questions, email elizabeth.giblin@gcisd.net
In every grade, students will need wired headphones! Headphones that go over the ears are recommended.
