6-week progress reports will be available next Wednesday, September 24th on Skyward. We will also send a paper copy home next week for you to review, sign, and return.
We have some students who have had multiple late assignments for over a week now. Those grades have been entered as ONE PERCENT and will be reflected in the 6-week progress report. Students will have until Tuesday, October 7th to turn in all late work (the Tuesday before the end of the 9-week grading period). After that time, the assignment will remain as a 1% in the grade book.
If you receive an email that your child has a late assignment and they are certain they turned it in, please have them go into Canvas and read the feedback on the assignment. Quite often, students have to make corrections or change the share settings on the assignment so we can view it. Just because they have turned it in on Canvas doesn't mean it is finished. We appreciate your help in reminding them to check their grades often in Canvas!
We have a goal this year for 5th-grade students to complete 8 hours of community service outside of the school day by the end of the year (4 hours per semester). Students who achieve 4 hours by December 5, 2025, and an additional 4 hours by May 1, 2026, will receive a party to celebrate their achievements. When your child completes community service, please be sure they are logging their time in the Google Form linked below. We have hung a tracker poster (pictured here to the left) we plan to hang in the 5th-grade hallway to track the hours completed as the school year progresses. We cannot wait to see the tracker fill up! This is an optional opportunity for students, but we hope to see several participate!
Also, if you snap photos of your child during their community service, please send them our way! We would love to see the work they are doing.

We've been working hard to help students understand the power of making mistakes because those mistakes can lead you to new discoveries. Some are accepting mistakes even easier now than 6 weeks ago but some are still struggling. We will continue to work with them and appreciate your grace and understanding of our own teacher mistakes!
