Gratitude

As we approach the end of the first semester, it's hard to believe how quickly time has flown by! We are truly grateful for the relationships we have built with our students and are amazed by the growth they have shown.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks for the support you provide at home, not just for your children, but for us as well. It's this partnership that makes a significant difference in our students' lives.

As we head into the upcoming break, we all recognize the importance of taking this time to reset and recharge. We go into it feeling extremely thankful for each of you and the community we've created together.

Sky Ranch photos can be accessed using the link below. You will have until the end of November (Sun 11/30) to save any of the pictures you wish. After that time, the folder will be deleted and the photos will no longer be available! (We have limited storage on our Google Drives!)

Curriculum

5th Grade Math

I can represent and solve multiplication of a whole number and a fraction using models.
I can divide whole numbers by unit fractions and unit fractions by whole numbers.
I can represent the division of a unit fraction by a whole number and the division of a whole number by a unit fraction using models.

6th Accelerated Math

I can model and solve two-step inequalities.
I can model and solve one-variable, one-step & two-step inequalities and equations.
I can substitute values for a given variable in equations and inequalities.
I can write one-variable, two-step inequalities and create a real-world situation that represents an inequality.

ELAR

I can analyze how the use of text structure contributes to the author’s purpose.
I can use text and graphic features to help deepen my comprehension of a variety of texts.
I can compose an extended-constructed response that includes all the elements necessary to achieve the highest score.

Science

I can observe and explain reflection, refraction, transmission, and absorption.
I can use my outside-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving skills to complete the digital breakout.
I can review for the Energy TEKS Check.
I can show what I’ve learned during the Electricity & Light unit on the TEKS Check. (Electricity & Light TEKS Check on Thurs 12/4)

Social Studies

I can describe the roles of the Patriots and Loyalists.
I can describe the firsthand accounts of the Siege of Yorktown.
I can identify the effects of the Treaty of Paris.
I can review what I’ve learned in the American Revolution in order to prepare for tomorrow’s test.
I can do my best on the unit 3 American Revolution TEKS check (test) in order to accurately show how much I’ve learned this unit.

5th Grade Baby Photos Needed For Yearbook

Each year, we have a special section in our Glenhope yearbook dedicated to our 5th graders and their baby pictures. If you would like your child’s baby picture to be featured in the yearbook, please send us their picture no later than Wednesday, December 10th. You can visit the link below and submit it digitally or send in a physical picture (to Mrs. Robertson) that will be returned. Thank you!

1st SEMESTER COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS DUE IN 2 WEEKS!

5th Grade Community Service Initiative

We have a goal this year for 5th-grade students to complete 8 hours of community service outside of the school day by the end of the year (4 hours per semester). Students who achieve 4 hours by December 5, 2025, and an additional 4 hours by May 1, 2026, will receive a party to celebrate their achievements. When your child completes community service, please be sure they are logging their time in the Google Form linked below. We have hung a tracker poster (pictured here to the left) we plan to hang in the 5th-grade hallway to track the hours completed as the school year progresses. We cannot wait to see the tracker fill up! This is an optional opportunity for students, but we hope to see several participate!

Also, if you snap photos of your child during their community service, please send them our way! We would love to see the work they are doing.
