This Thursday, November 20th, we will be visiting The Perot Museum for our field trip. Each class will have parent chaperones with an assigned group of students. The students will stay with the group to explore the museum and eat lunch. Any parents who are not able to commit to the day, but want to meet us there, are welcome. We ask that you not leave the group and just walk along, so that the chaperones are able to keep track of their assigned groups. We will not be shopping in the gift shop, so please do not send money with your child. Students should bring a 100% disposable lunch. Chaperones will manage lunches until we eat but will not be keeping up with water bottles or non-disposable containers. We will leave Glenhope at 9:00 AM and return to Glenhope around 2:00 PM. Please have your child wear the PTA provided field trip shirt that was sent home earlier in the year. Image to the side -->
In Reading, we are continuing to work on our comprehension strategies. This week we did a review on point of view, retelling, and story structure. We read different stories from different point of views and discussed the similarities and differences between first and third point of view. We have been working on digraphs and blends in our phonics lessons. We have also worked on adding -ed and -ing, and learning when we need to double the consonant.
We are spiraling back to data analysis in Math. We finished up our pictograph lessons this week and will be diving into bar graphs this coming week. After data analysis, we will move on to geometry and fractions.
In Science, we have been learning about animals and their young. We have learned about their habitats, food, life cycle, young, prey and predators. This week we learned about the life cycle of a bird, fish, and a dog. Students compared and contrasted the different life cycles.
Library day is Tuesday! Remember to bring your library books to school on Tuesday in order to check out new books.
Please bring charged iPad to school everyday.
