What a week, Gators! We kicked off Gatorville Clubs for the very first time ever, and let’s just say…it was a roaring success! Kids had an absolute blast, and teachers loved getting to know our new faces. Who knew learning could be this much fun?
Our first pep rally of the year was nothing short of amazing! 🎶 The 3rd grade showed off some serious spirit and earned the Spirit Stick for our awesome chant: “We are…We are…3rd Grade!” Talk about Gator pride!
We also celebrated our Great Gators and even had a lucky student take center stage for a thrilling Gator Bucks money grab—cha-ching! 💰
With so much excitement packed into just one week, we’re already looking forward to more fun, learning, and Gator greatness next week. Keep your Gator spirit high! 💚🐊💙

PLEASE send headphones with your student. The ones we had in the classroom are now mostly broken, and it’s important that each child has their own pair. Students use headphones every day in all three of their classes, so having them readily available is essential for their learning. Thank you for helping us make sure your child is prepared and successful each day!
- Please remind children to take good care of computers; carry with two hands, keep away from food, drinks, and little brothers or sisters. Each night we ask that you have a special place to charge the chromebooks and double check that they make it in your child's backpack in the morning. We will talk to the students about how it is their responsibility, but please help them for the first couple weeks.
***Please send in wired earbuds or headphones that plug into your child's chromebook. Label them with your child's name if possible.
For those who have kindly asked about our Amazon wish lists, you can find them by clicking on your teacher’s picture.
Last week in reading, we explored fantasy, letters, and poetry! Students practiced visualizing what they read and dove into literary elements like characters, setting, plot, and theme. We also continued learning about poetry and explored how an author’s point of view shapes a story.
This week students will be learning...
Reading-We’ll explore text and graphic features to better understand what we read (TEKS 3.9Dii, 3.10C), practice synthesizing information (TEKS 3.6E, 3.6F, 3.6H, 3.6I), identify the central idea of texts (TEKS 3.6G, 3.9Di), and dive into text structure to see how stories and nonfiction are organized (TEKS 3.9Diii, 3.10B).
Grammar-Students are practicing present and past tense (TEKS 3.11Dii), exploring present, past, and future tense (TEKS 3.11Dii), and learning to identify all three tenses in writing and reading (TEKS 3.11Dii).
***UNIT 2 TEST IS FRIDAY!***
Last week we began solving 3 digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, borrowing and double zeros.
This week the students will be learning...
I can determine the perimeter of a polygon. (3.7B)
I can determine the missing length of a polygon when given the perimeter and remaining side lengths. (3.7B)
I can solve one and two step problems involving addition, subtraction and perimeter.
To help your child at home with these skills-
Create word problems involving up to three digit numbers to solve.
Practice doing multi-step problems that involve adding and subtracting.
Begin working on finding the perimeter with all numbers given then work on finding the missing side.
The images below are some ideas of math practice to do at home (choice board) and vocabulary!
