Mrs. Robertson , Ms. Quiroz & Ms. Carter
We know it can be confusing to determine which teacher to email for a specific situation.
For academic questions/concerns/comments, please email your child's specific teacher:
Math: ashley.carter@gcisd.net
Science/Social Studies: christi.robertson@gcisd.net
For generic 5th-grade questions/concerns/comments, please email your child's homeroom teacher.
Next week, students will be taking their beginning-of-year i-Ready diagnostic in ELAR. Please refrain from absences and appointments at these times, if possible. Below are the dates for the assessments:
Monday, August 18th & Tuesday, August 19th - Reading i-Ready Diagnostic
Thank you for helping us have a successful first week back! It truly does take a village - we love being partners with you!
We understand that students sometimes have appointments during the school day. We've had a few parents ask what the best time is based on our schedule, so we thought we would share with you all:
10:40 - 1:00 would be a perfect time frame for students to be pulled for appointments. During this time, we have GatorAID (enrichment & intervention), specials, recess, and lunch.
From 7:40 - 10:40 each morning and 1:00 - until dismissal each afternoon, students will miss class time if they are pulled (which we know is sometimes unavoidable).
Just a reminder that 5th grade has their Curriculum Night NEXT WEEK on Thursday, August 21st, from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Golly, Miss Hayes, & Mr. Wahpekeche will be set up in the Learning Commons, while Miss Carter, Mrs. Robertson, & Miss Quiroz will be set up in the Cafeteria.
Afterwards, we will all transition to the cafeteria for the Sky Ranch Informational Meeting from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you next Thursday night!

Students will be working more with Canvas beginning next week. Many used it last year in 4th grade, but we will work to help them become more familiar with the platform in the coming weeks.
We suggest you use the pairing feature in Canvas, which allows you to "observe" your child's classes to see their daily lessons and assignments, and allows you to see what they have or have not turned in. We have placed a link below that will show you how to become an "observer" in your child's Canvas account.
We will be working throughout the year on building your child's growth mindset. To learn more, watch the video below.
