This week, we completed our i-Ready Math Diagnostic. Next week, we will complete the Reading i-Ready Diagnostic and the Reading Literacy Tasks. In the Literacy Tasks, students will read a list of nonsense words to demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge of phonics. We will continue to practice routines as we prepare to begin small group instruction next week.
We talked about making personal connections to books that we read and will continue to do so next week. We will also make text to text and text to world connections.
In Math, we have been collecting, sorting, and organizing data. We formulated questions and observations about data sets organized in graphs.
We have also learned about communities this week, which has been a great opportunity to discuss the different communities we share. Building a classroom community is a wonderful way to start the year with a new class.
This week we visited the library and got to check out books. We will visit the library every Tuesday for a lesson, check out time, and occasionally Maker Space activities. Please make sure your child brings their library books back every Tuesday in order to be able to check out new books.
