Week in Review

This week you should have received communication from the room parent for our class. If you did not receive the email and would like to receive emails from the room parent please email:

In Reading, we started working on retelling stories that we read in order. In Writing, we are continuing to work on our personal narrative writing unit. Students have all picked a topic and have finished their planning. They started writing their introductions on Friday and we will continue next week. 

In Math, we started our addition and subtraction unit. We will start word problems next week.

Our Science unit on objects and materials continues through early October. We will learn about classifying objects, sorting by characteristics, weight, systems and how things can be changed by heating and cooling. 

In Social Studies, our community unit is continuing with learning on being part of a community and authority figures in the community.  

Upcoming Curriculum

Reading/Language Arts: I can retell events from a book in order. I can write narrative stories about my own life. I can edit my personal narrative writing.

Math: I can represent addition or subtraction word problems by using appropriate strategies such as concrete objects, pictorial models, and number sentences. 

Science: I can classify objects by color, shape, size, and texture. 

Social Studies: I can explain the purpose for rules in the school, home, and community. I can identify rules and laws.

Reminders

• Library day is Tuesday! Remember to bring your library books to school on Tuesday in order to check out new books. 

• Please bring charged iPad to school everyday.
