It may have been a short week, but third grade didn’t slow down one bit! From hands-on activities to moments of growth and discovery, our students filled each day with curiosity and excitement. Our teachers have so much to be thankful and grateful for—this group makes every day a joy! The highlight of the week was our first Lunch Bunch with Mrs. Arnold, where students enjoyed chatting, laughing, and connecting over Frindle by Andrew Clements. They can’t wait for the next get-together to see what happens next in the story!
Families of Kindergarten through 4th grade students are invited to join us on Wednesday, November 12th from 5:30–6:30 PM for an informative session about our Gifted and Talented (GT) services and the Aspire program. Come learn how we support curious minds, creative thinkers, and high-achieving learners! See flyer for more information.
🎅🥞 Mark your calendars! On Saturday, December 6th from 8–10 AM, join us for a holly-jolly Breakfast with Santa! Enjoy fluffy pancakes, festive crafts, and of course, pictures with the big guy in red himself. 🎨📸 Don’t let the syrupy fun pass you by—register by December 1st to save your spot on the nice list! 🎄✨
It’s time to sink your teeth into your child’s progress! Parent-teacher conferences will be held on most Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:15–2:55. We’ll meet in person, but if a phone call works better, just let us know. We can’t wait to chat with our awesome Gator families!
PLEASE send headphones with your student. The ones we had in the classroom are now mostly broken, and it’s important that each child has their own pair. Students use headphones every day in all three of their classes, so having them readily available is essential for their learning. Thank you for helping us make sure your child is prepared and successful each day!
- Please remind your child to take proper care of their Chromebook: always carry it with two hands, keep it away from food, drinks, and younger siblings, and store it safely when not in use. Each night, ensure there is a designated place to charge the Chromebook and double-check that it makes it into your child’s backpack each morning. While we will reinforce that caring for the device is the student’s responsibility, your support during these first few weeks is essential.
Additionally, please send in wired earbuds or headphones that plug into your child’s Chromebook. If possible, label them with your child’s name.

Last week, we dove into fractured fairy tales—fun twists on classic stories that kept us guessing! As we read, we practiced how to monitor and clarify our understanding and explored literary elements like characters, setting, and plot. We also discovered the elements of drama by comparing how stories can be told through plays and discussed how authors use these details to help us uncover the theme or message of a story. It was a magical mix of reading, thinking, and a little fairy-tale fun!
MODULE 4 ASSESSMENT
This week students will be learning...
Reading- This week in Reading, we will be launching into Module 5 with a focus on Teamwork! 👫📚 Our readers will explore text and graphic features, practice asking and answering questions, and dig into literary elements to understand how characters, setting, and plot work together. We’ll also uncover the theme of stories and examine the author’s craft to see how writers bring their ideas to life. It’s going to be a week full of thinking, learning, and teamwork in reading! ✨
Grammar-This week in Grammar, we will be mastering subject-verb agreement! ✏️ They’ll practice adding -s or -es to verbs and distinguishing between singular and plural subjects to make sure their sentences are always in tip-top shape. It’s all about making our writing clear, correct, and confident!
***5's and 6's fact fluency quiz Thursday ***
Last week we learned how to level up our multiplication skills by using an area model, partial product and standard algorithm to solve two digit by one digit multiplication!
This week the students will be learning...
I can determine the area of rectangles with whole number side lengths in story problems using multiplication. (TEKS 3.6C)
I can decompose composite figures to find the area. (TEKS 3.6D)
I can show division of objects through equal groups and sharing. (TEKS 3.4H)
To help your child at home with these skills-
Create word problems involving up multiplication with two digit multiplited by one digit.
Practice their multiplication facts/ skip counting. (Students can log onto canvas for a link to our songs and online flashcards)
Work in independent practice workbook on pages 145-152.
The images below are some ideas of math practice to do at home (choice board) and examples of these types of representations.
Dear parents,
Multiplication fluency is a very important foundational skill.
In order to accomplish this goal, students will practice their multiplication facts and will be quizzed every Thursday. Each quiz has 20 questions and they will be given 3 minutes to complete the quiz. They must score at least a 70% in order to move on to the next fact. The facts that will be assessed are x0-x12.
They will have class time to practice their facts but we also ask that they practice at home.
We recommend using flashcards and/or playing online multiplication games.
